The Founder

Calvara E. Brooks is a two-time breast cancer survivor who has personally faced the devastating realities of this disease. In December 2016, she received a diagnosis of Stage 2 breast cancer—a life-altering moment that deeply impacted her and her family. After undergoing surgery, Calvara Brooks made the difficult decision to forgo chemotherapy and radiation, instead choosing a natural healing path. Through determination and faith, she overcame the illness. In March 2024, Calvara was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.

During the 2nd journey with fighting breast cancer, she experienced not only the physical toll of recovery but also significant emotional and financial strain. As she continued to manage her household and care for her family—leaving little room for the healing she so desperately needed. She reached out to multiple organizations for financial support quickly realized how difficult the process was to receive assistance for financial expenses. That is when she decides to take matters into her own hands and created the I C Brooks Breast Cancer Foundation to ensure that others would never have to feel the strain that she endured on her road to recovery.

That experience sparked a promise:

“If I beat this again, I’ll start my own nonprofit, so other women won’t have to feel what I felt.”

From that promise, the I C Brooks Breast Cancer Foundation was born.

We provide essential support for housing expenses, including mortgage, rent, and utilities, enabling families to concentrate on healing and recovery. Our mission is to cultivate hope, resilience, and community through compassionate assistance, ensuring that no one faces these challenges alone. We stand beside those navigating the difficult journey of breast cancer, offering a helping hand when it's needed most.

The I C Brooks Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. (ICBBCF), established in 2024 by Calvara E. Brooks, is a pending 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting families impacted by breast cancer. We are committed to easing the financial burdens that often accompany a diagnosis by providing critical assistance with housing-related expenses—such as rent, mortgage payments, and utility bills. Our goal is to give families the stability and peace of mind they need to focus on healing, recovery, and hope.
